NY state senator plans bill to protect user data from social media

A New York state lawmaker plans to introduce a bill that would hamper Silicon Valley companies from collecting and buying data on their customers.

The bill, to be introduced by state Sen. Luis Sepúlveda (D-Bronx), follows reports that Facebook is attempting to partner with banks to bring financial information to its Messenger platform.
