GOSHEN – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury), Monday, announced a series of bills that will increase accountability and transparency for industrial development agencies when they provide financial incentives for development projects.

As it stands now, the process “often resembles the wild west,” he said.

“Collectively these 11 proposals, we believe, will inject significantly more accountability and oversight to this process. These, I would argue, are very common sense bills that will begin to restore the trust of the public in local IDAs and local economic development more broadly,” he said. “That trust is at an all time low. These 11 bills look to try to restore some of that trust.”
