16-year-olds can now pre-register to vote in New York state

“When young people are engaged from any early age they stay engaged,” state Sen. David Carlucci, D-New City, who sponsored the legislation, said in a statement. “By eliminating barriers to register and increasing education, we are strengthening our democracy.”
