STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents at a free shredding event Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon in Ocean Breeze.

District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and the Staten Island Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority are organizing the event to help protect residents from identity theft and financial fraud.

“It’s important that Staten Islanders have a reliable and secure way to protect their personal information and safely dispose of sensitive documents,” Scarcella-Spanton, a Democrat who represents the North Shore and South Brooklyn, said.

“That’s why I’m proud to partner with District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, the New York City Department of Sanitation and the Staten Island Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to offer this free service to help protect against identity theft.”
