“I can really see what this project is going to become and am really proud to be standing here today to announce $500,000 in funding for this beautiful home,” Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton noted at a press conference inside of the historic property on Thursday morning. “This is one of the most remarkable pieces of architecture on Staten Island; it is over 360 years old and it’s still standing — which is a testament to the care and commitment of those who have worked so hard to preserve it.”

Scarcella-Spanton added: “The Perine house doesn’t just tell the story of grand historical moments, it tells the stories of everyday Staten Islanders, families who lived, worked and built their lives here.”
