Hinchey Statement on Approval of NESE Pipeline Permit
Kingston, NY – Senator Michelle Hinchey issued the following statement today regarding the decision by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to approve the Water Quality Certificate for the Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) pipeline:
NESE will be the biggest fossil fuel expansion New York has taken on since the CLCPA was passed. If you’re a New Yorker, you should be concerned that taxpayer dollars are being sunk into gas pipelines instead of clean, affordable energy that lowers bills, protects our water, and prepares us for a resilient future. We deserve clean energy that moves us forward, not decisions that create more financial and environmental harm.
