Family fights to keep 8-year-old Farmington girl's killer behind bars

A man convicted of rape and murder for the death of an 8-year-old girl in Farmington nearly 39 years ago is up for parole this month.
After a petition to keep Greg Flint jailed reached 10,000 signatures, Ackerman's family and local leaders pleaded again Thursday to keep Flint behind bars.
State Sen. Pam Helming called on constituents to support Lorraine’s Law, still in the pipeline in Albany, which would increase the time between parole hearings from 24 to 60 months for violent offenders.
'No family should have to fear that the murderer who destroyed their world might walk free,' said Helming.
