Manchester's native son, the late Kory Wade, honored with highway sign
On Veterans day, a fallen hero from this Ontario County community was commemorated by state officials.
Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, R-131 of Manchester, and state Sen. Pam Helming, R-54 of Canandaigua, joined the family of the late TSgt. Kory Wade, veterans, and community members to honor the local hero. A new sign marks a portion of Route 21, which has been named the “TSgt. Kory Wade Memorial Highway.”
The memorial highway begins at the intersection of routes 21 and 96 to Latting Road, which is directly in front of the Wade family home, according to a press release issued by Gallahan’s office.
“One of my greatest honors as a New York state senator is recognizing the courageous men and women who have served our nation with distinction,” Helming said. “It’s an honor to join Kory’s family, friends and neighbors in celebrating the life of service and sacrifice, and will ensure his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who travel this road.”
