The New York City Police Department's 61st Precinct, which stretches across several southern Brooklyn neighborhoods, has received $63,500 to help rectify a shortage of police cars. The allocation is the result of several conversations between Scarcella-Spanton, the precinct commanding officer and community affairs team over the need for a dedicated patrol car to help them respond more quickly to emergencies in the neighborhoods they serve, including Gravesend, Kings Bay, Sheepshead Bay, and the eastern part of the Coney Island peninsula, including Manhattan Beach.
