Earlier this week, Albany lawmakers passed their 13th budget extender, funding the government through Wednesday.

The state budget remains in limbo despite Gov. Kathy Hochul's announcement earlier this month that she and the legislature had reached a “general agreement” on a $268 billion budget, including changes to the state’s climate law and auto insurance reform.

However, during an interview on NY1’s “News All Day,” Democratic Queens State Sen. John Liu told NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry that a final budget deal could be close.

“We are starting to vote on the budget bills,” Liu said. “We will be done by the middle of next week."

The state budget was originally due on April 1.
