New York is one of the few states that has not revisited the statute of limitations for rape or sodomy. Over 19 states, including New Jersey and Maryland, do not have a limit for sex offenses and 12 more have extended theirs statute of limitations where there is DNA evidence available.

“We should give law enforcement authorities every opportunity to use new technologies to help prosecute these offenders,” said Senator Savino.
