Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced he has secured state funding for important programs in two area school districts.
"I am pleased to have been able to advocate for these essential programs in our local schools," said Senator Larkin. "They are proven and successful and deserve the state’s support. I know that many children will benefit this year as a result, and I commend the dedicated teachers and school officials who persisted in their requests for them."
Senator Larkin obtained a $30,000 grant for the Pine Bush Central School District for its Extended Day Program. The program fosters academic improvement by allowing children to stay after school, work with teachers, and participate in continued enriching scholastic experiences.
In addition, Larkin has secured a $25,000 grant for the Highland Falls--Fort Montgomery Central School District toward a start-up pre-school program. The program is specifically designed to address the challenges and needs of three- and four-year-olds whose families are at or below the poverty level.
