Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced he has secured state funding for two local cemeteries.
"These grants are extremely important because they will help accommodate those who come to visit their loved ones at the cemetery," said Senator Larkin. "They should be as comfortable as possible as they come to a place where they can collect their thoughts, pray, reflect, and stay as long as they wish."
The Cemetery of the Highlands, Inc. located in Highland Mills will receive $22,000 toward the costs of building handicapped-accessible rest room facilities that would be open to the public.
Senator Larkin also successfully negotiated a $15,000 grant for the Orange County Veterans’ Cemetery. The funding will be used to purchase a storage building for the backhoe, truck, equipment, and costs associated with paving a designated area for additional parking.
