State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee is pictured talking with volunteers at the First Presbyterian Church in Babylon Village. Senator Johnson secured a $50,000 state grant for the church to help upgrade their kitchen facilities. The church feeds about 80 to 100 people each week through its S.O.S. Feeding ministry program and its affiliated Babylon Christian School. The kitchen is sued to prepare means for families, students, seniors and the homeless -- anyone in the community in need of a warm nutritious meal.
"It means so much to those who are hungry to have a place like the First Presbyterian Church of Babylon to count on for a warm meal," said Senator Johnson. "I am pleased that this grant will be dedicated to serving those in the community who are truly in need."
