This week, Senator Bill Larkin reports to residents on several state resources available to residents for help with home heating and utility costs.
"Given the difficult increases in prices for natural gas, heating oil, and electricity, many individuals and families are in need of some form of energy assistance during these cold winter months," said Senator Larkin. "The state offers several resources and programs that may be helpful."
NYSERDA’s NY Energy $mart:
Energy $mart offers a variety of programs to qualified homeowners and renters to assess a home or apartment’s energy efficiency and to identify and install improvements that will lower energy costs. For a complete listing of these programs, including applications, go to www.getenergysmart.org or call NYSERDA’s toll free number 1-866-NYSERDA (1-866-697-3732).

This program offers low-income households financial assistance and cost-saving home energy improvements. Weatherization services may include upgrading insulation, sealing doors and windows, and replacing worn furnaces. For more information, call DHCR toll free: 1-866-275-3427.
The New York Power Authority (NYPA):

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP):
The Senate and Assembly have provided an additional $100 million to this program to benefit more seniors and other low-income residents.
