Statement Opposing Fun Tax
Betty Little
March 10, 2009
“Governor Paterson has made the right decision by scrapping the $1.3 billion so-called ‘fun tax’,” said Senator Betty Little. “Raising taxes on families and businesses would suppress economic activity at a time when billions of dollars are being pumped into our state to stimulate growth.
“I’m concerned that other tax increases, and in particular the plan to freeze property tax payments on state-owned lands, have not been eliminated. As the budget adoption deadline of April 1 quickly approaches, we need to continue driving the message that the best way to help our economy recover is by helping taxpayers keep more of what they earn.”
