SYRACUSE, N.Y.—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida), Vice President Pro-Tempore of the New York State Senate, was the prime sponsor of 32 pieces of legislation that passed both the Senate and Assembly, the most of any legislator in either house.

“For too long, one-house bills were the order of the day,” Senator Valesky said. “This year, working with my colleagues in the Assembly, I was pleased to help pass critical pieces of legislation that will create jobs, promote green energy, and make government more open and accountable.”

Senator Valesky’s extensive legislative agenda this session included bills focused on economic development, public protection, good government, the environment and local issues. Highlights include:
• Establishment of the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit and Main Street programs
• Increased criminal penalty for leaving the scene of a boating accident
• Inclusion of residential micro combined heat and power systems in technologies that can be connected to the grid
• Expansion of opportunities for development of the craft brewer and farm winery industries in New York State

In order to become law, legislation must be passed by both the Senate and the Assembly, then signed by the Governor. Several of Senator Valesky’s bills have already been signed into law.
