NYS SENATOR ERIC ADAMS PURSUES LEGISLATION IN RESPONSE TO THE “CRAIGSLIST KILLER” AND OTHER INTERNET CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. CRAIGSLIST ANNOUNCES PLAN TO ELIMINATE “EROTIC SERVICES” AND PRE-SCREEN “ADULT SERVICES” SUBMISSIONS.
“There has been a dramatic increase in crime involving computers, networking devices, and the Internet. The types of crime that can be committed and the ways in which individuals can be victimized are of extreme concern. The recent ‘Craigslist Killer’ case highlights the fact that cyberspace has become a medium subject to predatory and even violent criminal activity against vulnerable individuals. We must carefully examine and develop appropriate procedures to address and contain this criminal behavior."
