Governor Signs Into Law Two Sen. Adams-Sponsored Bills

Governor Paterson signed into law two bills sponsored by NYS Senator Eric Adams.  Below is an overview of these two important pieces of legislation introduced by Senator Adams: 

Bill No. S2782 - Surrogate's Court Procedure Act
This bill increases the time given a court to confirm the appointment of a standby guardian from sixty days to one hundred eighty days.  It is designed to ease families and children through difficult court proceeding processes.

 
Bill No. S3762
This bill requires greater disclosure by stores of their refund policies.  It will ensure that merchants fully disclose their refund policies, empowering consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
