New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) will distribute book bags to the first 300 children who attend the Family Day festivity on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Garden located at East 174th Street and Longfellow Avenue in The Bronx.  This family event has been organized by Reverend Joel Bauza, Pastor of the Calvary Church on E. 174th Street.

“I look forward to greeting families at this special event,” stated Senator Rev. Diaz.  “In an effort to assist parents in their efforts to continue to keep their children prepared for school, I am happy to say that the first 300 children who attend will receive brand new book bags and other treats.”

This community outreach is part of an ongoing effort by Senator Rev. Diaz to encourage children to read and stay in school.
