8/06/2009: Senate Passes NYC School Governance Legislation

“As a State Senator I was given a mandate from my district to ensure

their concerns are heard and they are afforded a seat at the table

when it comes to the education of the city’s 1.1 million school

children,” said Senator Shirley Huntley, School Governance Task Force

co-chair. “I am pleased key amendments included in the school

governance bill will increase the accountability and transparency of

the city’s education system, and more importantly increase parental

involvement
