Did you know that some car rental companies charge Brooklyn, Queens, and Bronx residents an extra fee just for living in these boroughs—even if they are renting the car somewhere else?
Charging New Yorkers a hidden fee based purely on their place of residence is unfair discrimination. Senator Squadron worked with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh to launch a petition drive calling on Dollar and Thrifty rental car companies to drop this discriminatory fee.
