Senator Klein presented a 40K grant to fund New York Botanical Garden 10TH annual Home Gardening Program
NEW YORK- Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) presented a $40,000 grant on Saturday, March 6th, to the New York Botanical Garden during the first session of its annual Home Gardening Program. The money pays for four free sessions which include gardening demonstrations, lectures and hands-on activities. About 200 senior citizens from the 34th Senate District participate in the program every year. This year, instructors are focusing on “going green” with environmentally-friendly gardening techniques. Klein has funded the program for about six years.
In order to participate, constituents must pre-register by filling out and returning forms they already received in the mail.
The next sessions are as follows:
· Easy-Care Flower Gardens, Saturday, March 13th, 10AM-12PM
· Organic Herb and Vegetable Gardening, Saturday, March 20, 10AM-12PM
· Low-Maintenance Landscaping, Saturday, March 27, 10AM-12PM
