Senator Kenneth P. LaValle was honored by the Children’s Maritime Museum in Port Jefferson Village for his support and commitment to restoring the Chandlery building so that it may become home for the Museum. The transformation started with the vision of former Port Jefferson Village Mayor Jeanne Garant. Senator LaValle was instrumental in bringing this vision to life by securing the state funding needed to restore the Chandlery building and create a harborside hub of maritime activity.
The mission of the Children’s Maritime Museum is to develop a broadened cultural awareness and allow visitors to experience a sense of artistry while learning about Long Island’s rich and varied maritime heritage.
