Senator Golden Leads Community Celebration of Asian Lunar New Year

Brooklyn- Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), together with the Chinese American Partnership, today announced plans to host their Annual Lunar New Year celebration on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at New Utrecht High School, located at 1601-80th Street in Brooklyn.
The celebration will include cultural performances and food, entertainment, and the distribution of important community information. Senator Golden will honor local leaders at the event with proclamations from the New York State Senate. A lucky drawing will also be held for prizes.
Senator Marty Golden stated, “I am excited to be hosting my 8 th Annual Lunar New Year event to celebrate the Year of the Tiger (Year 4708). I wish all a very happy and successful Asian New Year. At this time of the year, I am always most proud that I led a successful effort in the Senate to make Lunar New Year an official celebration day in New York State. The legislation has ensured that New York State officially recognizes the importance of this celebration.”
The program for the Lunar New Year celebration includes performances by seniors, children, and professionals from diverse ethnicities including, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Pakistani, and American. All residents are welcome.
