LIRR President Helena Williams welcomed Senator Owen H. Johnson at a groundbreaking ceremony for LIRR’s new Babylon Train Wash Facility on May 21, 2010. 

The Babylon Train Wash’s design boasts a “green” list of sustainable features, including architectural and structural, HVAC, plumbing, wash equipment and renewable energy.  The project is funded by $25.5 million in federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus money through the Federal Transit Administration of the Department of Transportation.
