Statement on Governor's Executive Budget Proposal

I’m pleased that Governor Cuomo has proposed an Executive Budget that closes a $10 billion deficit with recurring spending actions, and does not rely on any borrowing or new taxes.
In the coming days and weeks, I will be analyzing what the specifics of the budget will mean for Central New York, and getting input from my constituents in the 49th Senate district. While this budget will no doubt require difficult choices, it has the basis for taking the steps New York State needs to emerge from the fiscal crisis in a position for long-term growth
