One of the great attractions at the 3on3 Basketball Tournament held on July 16th was the 1st annual "Senator Jack M. Martins 7on7 Football Tournament" for college and high school students. The chairperson for the tournament was Elmont resident Donald Pierre-Louis who worked overtime to make the tournament a huge success. Football stars from Elmont, Franklin Square, Floral Park, North Valley Stream and New Hyde Park participated in the games.

Senator Martins sponsored the 7on7 games and did the opening coin toss at the kick-off of the tournament. Joining Senator Martins at the 7on7 was Assemblyman Ed Ra and Pat Cairo Family Foundation Chairperson for Those Struggling with Cancer Joe Cairo. "Back in May, a lot of Elmont college students asked me about putting on the 7on7 football games and I thought it was a great idea," said Senator Martins. "Over 200 guys came out on the field and battled it out for the title. I want to thank Donald for all his hard work in making the football games enjoyable for everyone!"

David Dangerfield, Jr., son of the late David Dangerfield, Sr. for whom the tournament day is named after, added, "My dad would of been so happy to see all of us out here playing today. He loved football and coached it for many years. This is a great legacy he would be so thrilled about. My family thanks Senator Martins and everyone for participating in this great event for our community."
