ALBANY, 07/20/11 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) announced today that legislation formally changing the name of Georgetown-South Otselic School District to the Otselic Valley Central School District at Georgetown-South Otselic has been signed into law.
“This legislation formalizes the legal name of the Otselic Valley Central School District at Georgetown-South Otselic and comes at the request of the school,” said Senator Seward.  “The change will allow the district to employ the commonly used  name when filing reports, applying for grants or entering into contracts.”
Senate bill 3859 passed by a vote of 60-0 in the state senate on April 18, 2011. Companion legislation, assembly bill 6897, was approved unanimously by the state assembly on June 13, 2011. It was signed into law by Governor Cuomo on July 18, 2011.
