It is with great sadness and respect that I recognize the life and untimely death of Nassau County Police Officer Geoffrey J. Breitkopf.

As both a police officer in Nassau County and a volunteer firefighter in his Selden community, Mr. Breitkopf was truly an unsung hero in our community who gave his utmost to protect the safety of his fellow Long Islanders.  His loss will be felt acutely throughout this entire region and is one that we should all take a moment to reflect on.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences on behalf of the entire 2^nd Senate District to his family.  They should know that they are not alone at this difficult time and that their entire community is with them.
