Senator Serrano Joins the Morris Heights Community to Rally for Peace
José M. Serrano
November 1, 2011
Senator Serrano joined Assemblywoman Vanessa L. Gibson for a Peace Rally and Panel Discussion in Morris Heights today. This event was a continuation of the Prayer Vigil and Peace Rally that occurred in Morris Heights last month to speak out against the violence that has negatively impacted the community.
“The security and quality of life of the community is of the essence,” said Senator Serrano. “I am pleased that we are all coming together- elected officials, the local precinct, and community members to fight against the violence that has been destroying lives for way too long in this community. However, it doesn't end there. We must continue to give our youth resources and programs where they can make positive contributions and stay off the streets.”
Also present were representatives from the 46th precinct, Bronx Community Board 5 members, community leaders, and advocates, among others.
