The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision is seeking correction officers
OLEAN – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean) joined the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in announcing that a New York State Department of Civil Service test will be administered on April 13, 2013 as part of a correction officer recruitment effort. The deadline for filing for the examination is February 25, 2013.
“I encourage anyone interested in a career as a correction officer to take the test,” said Senator Young. “Visit the website, gather information and see if it might be a good fit. This could be a tremendous opportunity for someone who is looking for a career change or still searching for a good-paying job.”
A correction office trainee starts with a salary of $39,014 per year. After one year of a successful correction officer traineeship, that salary can increase to $46,990 per year.
Information on the test can be found at the Department of Civil Service’s website at www.cs.ny.gov/exams. From there, interested parties can apply or download examination information or applications.
