Attention Sixth Grade Students: It's Time for Senator Martins' Thanksgiving Essay Contest

It's time once again for the Senator Jack Martins Thanksgiving Essay Contest, open to all sixth grade students who reside in the 7th Senate District. Now in its third year, The Senator Martins Thanksgiving Essay Contest has received numerous submission over the first two years with students writing about what they are most thankful for.

As has been the tradition, students are being asked to write an essay, "What Are You Most Thankful For?"

Last year, many of the essays focused on students' being thankful that their families were safe after Hurricane Sandy. Each year presents another opportunity for a student to express what he or she is thankful for whether it be their family, friends, school, their country, or whatever it is you want to write about.

Each participant will receive a certificate of accomplishment. One essay will then be chosen from each of the participating schools for its creativity, thoughtfulness, and overall message. The author and his or her family will be invited to a special reception during which the student can share the essay with other attendees.

Submissions can be made electronically by visiting martins.nysenate.gov (this website) and clicking the Thanksgiving Essay button on the upper left or downloading an entry form below and  mailing your essay to Senator Jack M. Martins District Office, 151 Herricks Road, Suite 202, Garden City Park, NY 11040. Submissions will accepted through November 20.

Looking forward to reading your essay!
