(New York, NY)- Senator Serrano participated in a press conference today regarding New York City’s Animal Care & Control (“AC&C”), a not-for-profit organization that runs the largest animal shelter system in the Northeast. Senator Serrano joined Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, who recently released a report outlining concerns with the management and operation of the organization, to call for reform.
"Animal Care & Control has a duty to care for stray animals and to help them find loving homes so that they can enrich people's lives,” said Senator Serrano. “Unfortunately, AC&C is no longer fulfilling their obligations and their facilities are overcrowded and under-performing. We must do more to ensure our city's animals are properly nurtured and protected. Many thanks to Borough President Stringer for putting together this report and providing a human voice to the animal population,” continued Serrano.
