SENATOR TERRY GIPSON'S STATEMENT ON COURT'S DECISION ON MTA PAYROLL TAX
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY: New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement on the recent decision by the state Court of Appeals on the MTA payroll tax:
"I am disappointed that the state Court of Appeals has decided to deny the appeal by the participating counties in their attempt to overturn the MTA payroll tax. I have been a leading voice in the effort to repeal this burdensome and unfair tax.
"As a small business owner when New York State made the mistake of passing the MTA payroll tax, I know first-hand the negative impact it has on our local businesses. Now, as a state senator, I remain committed to fighting for a full repeal."
