Senator Klein Passes Resolution on State Senate Floor Honoring Pelham Manor Club’s 100th Anniversary

ALBANY, NY – Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) honored the 100thAnniversary of Pelham Manor Club by passing a resolution on the floor of the State Senate in Albany. The Manor Club has long been a civic and cultural center for women in Pelham and Pelham Manor with a proud history of community service across New York. With more than 300 members, the Manor Club gives scholarships to Pelham Memorial High School students, organizes a service-focused youth group, hosts theater productions, concerts and holiday events.

 

Senator Klein said: “For one hundred years, the Pelham Manor Club has stood as a bedrock of the Pelham community, hosting countless cultural, social and civic events and providing a venue for outside philanthropic organizations. The Manor Club’s proud tradition of initiating and supporting community service programs is truly admirable. That’s why I was honored to recognize the 100th Anniversary of the Manor Club today on the floor of the New York State Senate today. Congratulations to the women of the Pelham Manor Club on their 100 year anniversary. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to your community.”

 

Pelham Manor Club President Joan Cornell said: “What a wonderful experience it was to witness this moving ceremony to commemorate the accomplishments of The Manor Club that started 100 years ago and are continuing and expanding today. On behalf of the past-presidents here with me today and our Board Members, we are most appreciative of the honor bestowed by the State Senate by issuing the beautifully worded resolution that looks back over our accomplishments and recognizes our importance to the future of Pelham.” 

 

President Cornell was joined by Mary Hearle Past President and Chair of the Centennial Celebration and Past Manor Club Presidents, Sheila Rutigliano, Sharon Pietrzak, Claire Nappi and Constance Peters.

 

The official Centennial celebration will take place this Saturday, March 1st in Pelham, NY and feature a retrospective art exhibit.
