(Upper West Side)- Senator Serrano kicked off the "Broadway Morey Boogie" outdoor art exhibit on the Upper West Side on September 17th. Senator Serrano was joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez and other community leaders.
The "Broadway Morey Boogie" art exhibit spans the five miles of the Broadway Malls and will be on display until February 2015. There are 10 different sculptures on display in 10 different locations along Broadway, from Columbus circle up to 166th street. All 10 sculptures were curated by Marlborough Chelsea and were made possible by the Broadway Mall Association and the NYC Parks Department.
"Public art is an integral part of the fabric of New York City's diverse cultural landscape. I'm so happy to join Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal and other community leaders for the ribbon cutting of The Broadway Mall Association's 'Broadway Morey Boogie' art exhibit. I am thrilled to have three of these great pieces in my district. Many thanks to the Broadway Mall Association, the NYC Parks Department and the Marlborough Chelsea Gallery for making this art accessible to everyone by bringing it out onto the streets of New York City," said Senator Serrano.
