Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that he has secured $130,000 in state funding for four Orange County Police Departments.  The City of Newburgh will receive $75,000 to purchase cameras; the Town of Newburgh will receive $20,000 to purchase laptops for their patrol vehicles; the Town of New Windsor will receive $20,000 to purchase a new patrol vehicle and the Town of Cornwall will receive $15,000 for safety equipment and the purchase of a new patrol vehicle.

“It is a great privilege for me to secure this funding for our local police departments,” said Senator Larkin.  “With crime continuing to rise at an alarming rate, law enforcement officers deserve every avenue available to them to keep our residents safe.  These grants will allow the City of Newburgh, Town of Newburgh, Town of New Windsor and Town of Cornwall to purchase safety equipment and vehicles to assist local anti-crime efforts.  It is my hope that these funds will make our streets safer for our children, senior citizens and all our residents,” said Larkin.

The funding was included as part of the 2014 New York State Budget.
