As the October 15 deadline fast approaches for Sandy-affected homeowners to opt in to FEMA’s flood insurance claims review process, Staten Island Legal Services is attempting one last outreach push to inform people of the extended deadline, to alert people that the first $20,000 is now exempt from “duplication of benefits” for Build It Back, and to dispel any misconceptions that may be inhibiting people from participating.
