Ensuring Transportation Safety at Jacob Riis
November 9, 2015
In September, I wrote to Manhattan Borough Commissioner Margaret Forgione asking the Department of Transportation (DOT) to address a dangerous blind spot at a traffic circle on East 10th Street, by Jacob Riis Houses. Tenant leaders have informed me that schoolchildren crossing this street were nearly hit by passing cars. This month, DOT issued a work order to install “Traffic Circle Ahead” advisory signs to remediate the problem and ensure the street is safe for pedestrians. Please find a copy of my letter here.
