New York, NY - State Senator Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan) said: "I‘m extremely pleased the Mayor focused his State of the City on the single biggest challenge facing working families in New York: affordable housing. I particularly welcome his plans to protect and strengthen rent regulations in Albany, provide free legal defense to tenants in rezoning areas, help homeless veterans, create and preserve senior housing and provide housing for artists. These initiatives are key to my district in Manhattan, where skyrocketing rents, porous regulations and aggressive landlords are forcing longtime tenants out of their homes.
"I look forward to working with the Mayor and my colleagues at both the state and city level to tackle these issues in the weeks and months ahead."
