Statement from Senator Catharine Young on The Passing of Cattaraugus County Undersheriff Bill Nichols

“Undersheriff Bill Nichols was beloved and admired by many, and I am deeply saddened about his loss. Whenever I saw him, he always had a smile. After a friendly conversation, it inevitably would turn to a discussion about serious policing issues, especially the illegal drug scourge. He always was a consummate law enforcement professional, dedicating himself to protecting people and getting criminals off the streets, oftentimes putting himself in harm's way. Bill was a genuine, quality person who has a tremendous legacy of public service. Our hearts go out to his loved ones and his Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department family,” said Senator Catharine Young.
