On October 20, 2015, Senator John A. DeFrancisco sponsored a New York State Senate Veterans Recognition Ceremony to honor 20 local veterans for their exemplary military service.  The ceremony was held at Syracuse City Hall. 

These distinguished veterans were recently awarded a New York State military award, which included the Medal for Merit, the Conspicuous Service Star and the Conspicuous Service Cross.  These prestigious state awards provide recognition to individuals for acts of valor and for exceptional military accomplishments, as well as long and faithful military service.  The honored veterans had applied for the awards through Senator DeFrancisco's office during this past spring and summer.
