Following recent reports of a convicted sex offender being housed at the Westway hotel, Senator Michael Gianaris expressed alarm and demanded the Department of Homeless Services do better by the surrounding community.
“I am alarmed at the recent news that a convicted child molester has been placed at the Westway facility after we were assured that location was meant to house families with children,” said Senator Gianaris. “The continuing lack of information and transparency surrounding the Westway is extremely troubling and validates the community's concerns about this location from the start. Bringing a sex offender to our streets unbeknownst to nearby residents is downright disturbing. The City should immediately reconsider its plans for this location in light of this news.”
