Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) earned a grade of A from the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO) for his votes on funding proposals and legislation that impact school finances. The grade was included in the organization’s recently released Legislative Report Card.
“In order to provide our students with a quality education, adequate funding is essential,” Gallivan said. “That’s why I supported increasing aid to schools in this year’s state budget and have sponsored legislation to abolish the GEA, or Gap Elimination Adjustment, which has had a devastating financial impact on our schools.”
Legislators received grades of A thru F based on their votes regarding the School Aid portion of the State Budget, changes to the Tax Cap and a series of bills that would impact school finances. Senate and Assembly members received extra points for sponsoring bills that improved school finances and lost points for sponsoring bills that were detrimental to school finances.
The 2015 Legislative Report Card can be found on NYSASBO’s website at www.nysasbo.org
