Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Lt. Gov Hochul and Mayor Fixell Visit Tarrytown Economic Development Sites

Tarrytown, NY – Today, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins joined with Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul and Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell to tour downtown Tarrytown and visit sites poised for future development. This visit was part of a joint effort with state and local leaders to promote growth and economic development in the region.

“Thanks to major infrastructure investments, Tarrytown is in a unique position to benefit and we must make the most of this opportunity to invest in a brighter future,” said Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins. “Through smart growth initiatives and transit oriented development, state government and Tarrytown officials will help revitalize this community and the surrounding region. I thank Governor Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor Hochul for their efforts and Mayor Fixell for his innovative vision to capitalize on these investments to help Tarrytown prosper.”

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said, “When Governor Cuomo came into office, he envisioned an economic development model driven from the bottom up that funded strategic projects to impact an entire region. That is now reality. Today, as I saw first-hand, Tarrytown is poised for tremendous growth and Sen. Stewart-Cousins and Mayor Fixell have played pivotal roles in re-imagining this village for the future.”

Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell said, “Thanks to the dedication of Senate Democratic Leader and local Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Governor Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor Hochul, our community is growing stronger and more prosperous. We will capitalize on the transportation infrastructure investments made by state government to help encourage more New Yorkers to live, work and raise families right here in Tarrytown. I thank Lieutenant Governor Hochul and Senator Stewart-Cousins for coming here today to highlight the progress we're making and revitalizing downtown Tarrytown and our entire region.”

Tarrytown is located at the eastern terminus of the New NY Bridge currently under construction, which will serve as a replacement for the aging Tappan Zee Bridge. The village also lies along commuter rail lines and, through smart growth initiatives, has potential to become a major transportation hub. These opportunities have been realized by local Tarrytown officials who are focused on smart growth efforts to encourage young family and millennial-friendly development.
