NEW YORK – Today, State Senator Brad Hoylman released the following statement in response to the New York State Division of Human Rights’ adoption of Governor Cuomo’s new regulations banning discrimination and harassment against transgender people.
State Senator Brad Hoylman said: “As the only openly-LGBT member of the Senate I'm extremely grateful to Governor Cuomo for affirming protections from discrimination in housing and employment for transgender New Yorkers. Today's adopted regulations formally recognize in law what many of us have long understood: transgender rights are human rights. I look forward to working with Governor Cuomo, advocates, and my colleagues -- including Senator Squadron and Assembly Member Gottfried, the prime sponsors of GENDA -- to codify these regulations to ensure their preservation into the future.”
