Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited Manhasset High School to congratulate the Manhasset High School Marching Band on winning the 2015 New York State Championship, their seventh consecutive state title.

Senator Martins presented the band with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored, which was passed by the Senate, honoring their accomplishment.  With passage of the resolution, the band’s achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.

With its 2015 field show featuring music from the movie “Star Wars,” the band captured the top honor with a first place finish at the New York State Marching Band Championship this past October.  This was the band’s seventh consecutive state championship in the USBands competition circuit.

“The Manhasset Marching Band dynasty continues with an unbelievable seventh consecutive state championship.  Sustaining that level of excellence for so long is extremely rare and very special, and it’s impossible without countless hours of hard work and practice.  Congratulations to the students and staff for building upon the storied legacy of the Manhasset Marching Band with another championship season,” said Senator Martins.
