January 11, 2016
Bronx, NY – In celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany, State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) and State Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda (D-Bronx), hosted their Third Annual Three Kings Day event with District Leader Julia Rodriguez on Saturday. Nearly 300 participants enjoyed lunch, a magic show, chorus music, and a performance of the nativity scene by the Holy Family Church choir. Children in attendance received special toys, such as stuffed animals, toy cars, puzzles, sporting equipment, and board games.
“I am thrilled to host our annual celebration, which has become a cherished tradition for our Bronx families. Three Kings Day is a special holiday for our friends, neighbors, and community members,” said Senator Klein. “I wish everyone health, joy and prosperity in the New Year.”
Three Kings Day commemorates the biblical story of the three kings, also known as the three wise men, who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts (gold, frankincense, and myrrh) to baby Jesus.
“I am so pleased to once again join Senator Klein in celebrating the Three Kings Day tradition in the Castle Hill community. This annual event is one of the most joyous occasions of the year, and it is so rewarding to watch the faces of the youngsters as they enjoy the activities, the toys, and being part of such a fun event,” said Assemblyman Sepulveda.
“We celebrate this event every year, and it reflects the culture of Puerto Rico and South America. We need to keep our culture alive with celebrations like this, and I thank Senator Klein and Assemblyman Sepulveda,” said District Leader Julia Rodriguez.
