A Better Place to Play: Ritchie Secures $50,000 to Improve Lacona's Bridge Side Park
July 7, 2016

In an effort to help improve outdoor recreational opportunities for families in Central New York, State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured $50,000 to assist the Village of Lacona with upgrades to the Village’s Bridge Side Park.
“Enhancing recreational opportunities is a big part of the puzzle when it comes to improving our local communities for families in our region,” said Senator Ritchie.
“I am pleased to have been able to secure this funding, and look forward to checking out the improvements being made at Bridge Side Park.”
“The Lacona Bridge Side Park is more than just a park—it’s a place where children can play, get active and develop key skills,” said Village of Lacona Mayor Peggy Manchester.
“We would like to thank Senator Ritchie for her assistance in securing this funding, which will help us continue the work we have started to improve the Lacona Bridge Side Park.”
Officials plan to use funds secured by Senator Ritchie to purchase playground equipment, including items that will make the park safer for children using it.
Final release of funds is subject to state approval.
